As brothers striving to be recognized as the Chi Lambda Chapter at the University of California San Diego, we try to embrace this principle to the fullest. Our experience as a colony has afforded us the opportunities for growth in the fraternal bonds that have sprung from common ideals and aspirations. We each feel that it is our individual duty as a brother to impress upon each other the importance of bettering ourselves as men.
Brotherhood Camping Trip
Our growth in membership can be perceptually misleading in the sense that we have not lost that close-knit sense of brotherhood. The Chi Lambda Colony takes the appropriate measures to maintain these relationships, hosting brotherhood events each quarter led by our Brotherhood Committee. Below is a list of some recent brotherhood events:
Brotherhood Lunch Every Wednesday, from 12-2pm, each brother is invited to take a break from his hectic schedule and catch up with his fellow FIJIs over lunch.
Camping Trip For one day and night, the brothers all gathered their wilderness gear and took a trip to Lake Cuyamaca. It was a unique experience because it presented the opportunity for FIJIs to bond outside of their typical environment, allowing our brotherhood to achieve new strengths.
Superbowl For the 2009 Superbowl, all the brothers got together at one of our houses and had a blast watching the game. There was barbeque, swimming, and a potluck.
NCAA Tournament Bracket During the college basketball season, we had a joint fundraiser/brotherhood event, with the proceeds going to our chartering fund. Brothers who wanted to play donated $5 to the fraternity and watched the basketball games together. One brother took home the title of March Madness MADMAN and also bragging rights for the rest of the year.
