2009-02-04T08:19:36Z [p]The Chi Lambda Colony of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta has completed four successful recruitment periods, beginning with its first in the winter of 2008.[/p] [p][img=recruitmentchart.jpg][/p] [ul] [li][b]Winter 2008 [/b]6 new members [i](Beta Class)[/i], combined GPA of 3.22, 60% of pledges received the AAA scholarship.[/li] [li][b]Spring 2008 [/b] 13 new members [i](Gamma Class)[/i], combined GPA of 3.07, 67% of pledges received the AAA scholarship.[/li] [li][b]Fall 2008 [/b]14 new members [i](Delta Class)[/i], combined GPA of 3.24, 85% of pledges received the AAA scholarship.[/li] [li][b]Spring 2009 [/b]15 new members [i](Epsilon Class)[/i], combined GPA of 3.00, 57% of pledges to receive the AAA scholarship.[/li] [/ul] [p][img=fijibballgroup.jpg][/p] 12 1 charter Recruitment [h]Pledge Standards[/h] [p][b][i]The overriding purpose of pledge education is to build better men and future brothers…not better pledges.[/i][/b][/p] [p]The Chi Lambda Colony is currently using the new Pledge Education program provided by the International Headquarters. It is a six-week program which is meant to integrate the pledges into the Colony, while they learn about the values of Phi Gamma Delta, as well as create strong bonds between themselves. Our pledging syllabus can be [url=http://www.ucsdfiji.com/images/uploads/pledging syllabus 2.pdf target=blank][b]viewed here[/b][/url].[/p] [p][b]Initiation Requirements[/b][/p] [p]ACADEMICS[/p] [ul] [li]Each pledge must have a cumulative GPA of 2.500 (on a 4.000 scale) in his college course work.[/li] [li]Each pledge must study and record a minimum of 6 hours per week.[/li] [li]Each pledge is highly encouraged to strive for a 3.0 in his pledge quarter so he may earn the AAA Scholarship.[/li] [/ul] [p]PLEDGE CLASS EXAMINATIONS[/p] [ul] [li]Each pledge must pass all pledge class examinations with a score of 100%.[/li] [li]Each pledge must submit a short biography on a famous Fiji, or Fiji Chapter, each week. This will help to further his appreciation for the accomplishments made by our Fraternity and so many of our brothers.[/li] [/ul] [p]FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS[/p] [ul] [li]Each pledge must remain in good standing regarding his account to the Fraternity. He must have a zero balance prior to initiation, including initiation fees.[/li] [/ul] [p]ATTENDANCE[/p] [ul] [li]Each pledge will attend all mandatory events and pledge class meetings. Excuses for absences must be submitted to the Pledge Educator in advance.[/li] [li]As class attendance is vital to academic success, failure to attend classes for any reason is not condoned.[/li] [/ul] [p]PARTICIPATION[/p] [ul] [li]Each pledge will participate in a chapter committee.[/li] [li]Each pledge will participate in a review with his Big Brother and the Pledge Educator. This will occur in week 5 with the purpose of identifying both strengths and improvements.[/li] [li]Each pledge is highly encouraged to participate in at least one campus organization outside of Phi Gamma Delta.[/li] [li]Participation in colony events (athletics, socials, brotherhood events, philanthropy projects, etc.) is expected.[/li] [/ul] [p]ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS[/p] [ul] [li]The pledge class must complete one fundraiser, totaling $1000 to put towards chartering.[/li] [li]Each pledge must complete a minimum of 5 philanthropy hours.[/li] [li]Each pledge must interview every active brother.[/li] [/ul] 2009-08-14T23:37:58Z
